Girls Football is currently
the
biggest team sport for females in this country with over
130,000 affiliated players. This equates to a 10% increase in
participation figures each year for the last 5 years.
Over the years the FA have introduced new initiatives to develop the game at a grass roots level. Following the launch of the Football Associations National Game Strategy the national Women and Girls player pathway structure for elite players has changed with a new Centre of Excellence model.
The Greater Manchester Centre of Excellence was established from the old Stockport County Centre and is now based at Curzon Ashton FC in Tameside.
